Portrait painting was my first love. My idea of a perfect day means strolling through the Getty Museum admiring my idols, including Titian, Ingres, and Caravaggio. Studying every detail, IÂ hoped to one day achieve their level of artistic brilliance.
However, while examining the artworks, I always wished to see subjects from my Los Angeles community represented with the same level of prestige and glory.
By using acrylic and oil paint, IÂ aim to reimagine the Western art canon by celebrating queer joy, create representation for people of color, all while immortalizing significant moments in my life.
